About Harbor Heights

Our History

Harbor Heights Beach has a rich and vibrant history that dates back to its incorporation, marking a pivotal moment in our community's story. What started as a small, close-knit neighborhood has grown into a cherished gathering place, where generations of families have come together to enjoy the beauty of the beach and build lasting connections. The official incorporation of the beach set the foundation for a strong, collaborative community that continues to thrive today. Harbor Heights remains a symbol of unity, heritage, and the shared love for the place we all call home.

Founded on July 12, 1933, the Harbor Heights Park Association (HHPA) has been a cornerstone of the Harbor Heights community in Huntington, New York. From its early days, the HHPA has played a vital role in maintaining the beach, organizing community events, and fostering a spirit of togetherness that has defined the neighborhood for nearly a century. The legacy of Harbor Heights continues to inspire residents and visitors alike, ensuring that this special place will be enjoyed for generations to come.

The Early Years

In the early 20th century, Harbor Heights was a growing residential community, attracting families looking for a coastal retreat. Recognizing the need for a dedicated association to maintain communal beach access and harbor amenities, local homeowners came together to establish the Harbor Heights Park Association, Inc. in 1933. Their goal was simple: to protect, maintain, and enhance the shoreline for generations to come.

Growth & Development

Through the decades, HHPA has evolved, adding amenities such as:

  • Boat storage for members, making waterfront access more convenient.

  • Picnic tables and BBQ grills, fostering a welcoming community atmosphere.

  • Running water and maintained beach utilities for improved convenience.

  • Annual events like our Beach Cleanup, social gatherings, and, as of 2025, our official HHPA Celebration Day every July 12th in honor of our founding.

HHPA Today

Today, HHPA continues to be a member-driven organization dedicated to preserving the charm and recreational value of HHPA Beach. Our mission remains focused on environmental conservation, community engagement, and maintaining a safe and beautiful space for our members to enjoy.

Looking Forward

As we move forward, we are committed to expanding community involvement, improving beach facilities, and ensuring the next generation enjoys the same pristine waterfront we cherish today
